Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens: Free access
Like its cousin Saint-Julien de Villarodin, the Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens church is nestled in the heart of the village. You will find it without difficulty, however, thanks to its white bell tower decorated with "Lombard bands" and its slate roof.
Description
By visiting this church built in 1634, you will not go down to hell... but to heaven! You have to go down a few steps to access the vestibule, then push open the heavy door to access the unique nave, with all its arcades.
Keep moving forward. An anthology of Baroque works awaits you: murals, balustrade painted in faux marble, entirely gilded altarpiece, twisted columns adorned with laurel, oak, vine or rose foliage... Everything is tangled or echoed! Note also the presence on all the altarpieces of cherubs: they evolve on the white backgrounds where shades of pink mingle with gold. Isn't that somehow accessing paradise, as promised?
